This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use English With Stories. The seller is established in the United Kingdom. This text is a draft and should be reviewed by a lawyer.
Who is responsible

What data we process
We process the following data so we can provide the service:
- Identity and contact data: name and email address.
- Contact-form data: subject, message, and support emails.
- Account data: sign-up date, session information, and account status.
- Marketing preferences: optional email consent, the date you gave it, and later changes.
- Order and payment status data: products bought, order date, amount, and payment status.
- Learning data: exercise answers, text highlights (page, paragraph, colour), last page read, notebook quotes and notes, and books chosen on your learning plan. These are stored on the server with your account.
- Usage data: page views and similar records used to improve the service.
Payment data
The seller does not see, save, or store your card details. Payments run on Stripe’s systems, and card data is processed only by that provider.
Why we process data
We use your data to create and manage your account, give you the content you bought, save your exercise answers, highlights, reading position, notebook, and learning plan, handle payments, answer support requests, meet legal record-keeping duties, and improve the service.
We do this because it is needed to provide the service, to meet legal duties, or because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving the site.
We send marketing emails about new books, articles, or offers only if you have given consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time on your account page.
Who we share data with
We share data only with providers needed to run the service: Supabase for accounts and database, Resend for email, Stripe for payments, and our hosting provider.
These providers may store data outside your country. We share only what is needed to provide the service.
We do not sell your data or share it for other companies’ marketing.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data while your account is active and for as long as the law requires. Learning data stays with your account while it exists. Contact messages are kept long enough to handle support and possible disputes. Order and payment records are kept for tax and commercial record-keeping.
When we no longer need data, we delete it, destroy it, or make it anonymous.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to ask for a copy of data you provided.
- Ask whether we process your personal data and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete data when the law allows it.
- Withdraw marketing consent at any time.
- Complain to a data-protection authority if you believe we have not handled your data lawfully.
